Fish Are Great Stress Relievers

Let's face it: Life is sometimes stressful. It could be because you're still dealing with coronavirus pandemic issues, working from home with the children in the background or rushing through traffic to get to and from the office. Regardless of the reason, fish can help relieve stress and anxiety and it is as simple as sitting down in front of the tank and watching them in the water. 

You don't have to have a fancy aquarium set up. In fact, Betta fish are ideal fishy partners in crime when it comes to stress relief! What do you need to do to welcome a fish into your home? Not much, really!  

1. Decide where you will place the fish tank
2. Decide if you want freshwater or salt water
3. Decide how big of a tank you want
4. Decide whether you want a lot of fish or just one or two 
5. Learn about how to properly care for the fish you're bringing home -- the pet store where you get your fish is great a resource. 
6. Buy all the necessary equipment and get it set up before you bring your fish home. There may be a period of time you need to take to get the tank set up and the water properly ready for the fish. Do that first, then go back for your fish. 
7. Know how much time you want to put into caring for your fish. For example, a goldfish requires much less maintenance than a saltwater tank. 
8. Know what kind of look you want for your fish tank and invest in the accessories. 
9. Know whether you'd prefer to watch the fish swim through tall grasses or if you'd like to see a pirate treasure chest or a skull or even a scuba diver adding to the fun of your tank. 

Sitting in a darkened room with the only light the one from the fish tank is relaxing as a bedtime routine. Consider your fish tank as your form of entertainment -- you can watch the fish zip around the tank instead of turning on the television or looking at a screen. 

When you get home from work and are looking for a quick way to chill out, grab your favorite beverage and spend time with your fish. Watching your fish is also a great way to start the day. It is almost hypnotic watching them swim to and fro. We can almost guarantee you will love the investment you've made in your fish tank.
